Preparations for the most anticipated sporting events of Khumbu community, 14th Khumbu Lhosar Cup is in the final stage. The regular eight teams, Thamichhowa Football Team, Namche Youth Group, Amadablam Youth club, Khumjung Youth club, Mahendra Jyoti Ex student Forum,Khumbu Yambu Sherpa Samaj(Juving Sherpa Kyidug), Khunde community club and Khumbu veterans are set to compete for the title. The winner team will awarded with the cash prize of Rs 100,000 along with prestigious Lhosar Cup Trophy, certificates and Medal. The runner up will receive Rs 50,000, with certificate and Medal and the 2nd runner-up will be awarded with Rs 25,000, medals and certificates. Yambu Thamichho Kydug and Thamichhowa Youth Group are leading organisation of Thamichho region which regions is home to world renowned mountaineers; Tenzing Norgay Sherpa, one among two individuals who scaled Mt. Everest for the very first time in the world, Apa Sherpa, former world record holder for most ascends on Everest, Kami Rita Sherpa who held the world record of most ascending person on Mt. Everest for 28 times, Ang Rita Sherpa Aka snowleopard, world record holder who ascended the most time on Everest without using supplemental oxygen, Lakpa Rita Sherpa, first Nepali to climb seven summits and renowned international mountain guide, Ngima Nuru Sherpa, record holder mountaineer with 22 times Everest summits and many more. For organizing the 14th edition, an organizing team has been formed under the leadership of Mingma Sherpa, Immediate past president of Yambu Thamichho Kydug and a renowned social activist, youth tourism entrepreneur and leader of the region. The organizing team consists of the presidents of Yambu Thamichho Kydug and Thamichhowa Youth group as a member. Ngima Tenzing Sherpa, general secretary of Kydug and Lhakpa Tenzing Sherpa, Immediate General secretary of Kydug, have been appointed as secretariat members of the organizing team.
