20 climbers reach top of Mt Cho-Oyu from Tibet KATHMANDU:More than 20 climbers successfully climbed the Mt Cho-Oyu (8,188 m) in Tibet this morning. According to Jiban Ghimire of Shangri-La Nepal Treks, the climbers including Ben Jones and Lakpa Rita Sherpa of Alpine Ascents reached the top of the world’s sixth highest peak today. The world climbers led by Daniel Mazur of SummitClimb, Kai George Zinn, Da Jangbu Sherpa and Rinjin Sherpa of Adventure Consultant also summited the peak, Bhola Paudel of Himalayan Guides told THT Online. “More climbers from International Mountain Guides and other expeditions plan to scale Cho-Oyu in a day or two,” Ang Jangbu Sherpa, owner of the Beyul Adventure, said. With the great success on mountaineering on the Mt Manaslu and the Mt Cho-Oyu this autumn, stakeholders believed that there would certainly be a huge crowd on the Mt Everest in the next spring season. “Most of the climbers choose to climb these peaks to prepare themselves for the Mt Everest,” Damber Parajuli, President of the Expedition Operators' Association of Nepal, said.
