22 more make it to Everest top A total of 22 persons climbed the 8848-metre high Mt Everest today, the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation said in a statement. Of those ascending the top of the world, 13 are Nepalis, four Britons, two Americans, a Canadian, a Pole and an Irish. Meanwhile, record-holder climber Appa Sherpa, who scaled the Mt Everest for the 18th time yesterday has reached the base camp. Ang Chhering said Appa reached the base camp this afternoon. Appa had no plan to climb the Everest, Ang Chhering said, adding that he expressed his interest to be a part of the Eco-Everest Expedition and help spread the message on the adverse effects of climate change and global warming on the Himalayan glaciers and the danger of Glacier Lake Outburst Flooding. A statement issued today by the Ministry confirmed Appa’s feat.
