77-year-old aims to scale Everest Kathmandu, December 11: A 77-year-old man, Min Bahadur Sherchan, has vowed to scale the Mt Everest in 2008 and set the record of the oldest man to scale the highest peak of the world. Organising a press conference here today, Sherchan said will scale the Mt Everest under the ‘77-Year-old Senior Citizen’s Mt Everest Expedition-2008 team. “I am going to scale the peak to spread the message of national and international peace and to encourage and enhance the will power of the global community to work for the betterment of human civilisation. It is never too late to act,” he said. He expressed his desire to build an old age home and an intellectual resource centre equipped with good facilities and dedicate his remaining life to serve the nation. A committee has been formed under the coordination of Ramjindaji Gurung to gather support for the expedition.
