Another feather on his cap This Italian has conquered 10 peaks above 8,000 metres, including Mt Everest. And to add another feather to his cap, Silvio Mondinelli has been able to capture the hearts of Dhading residents. Recently he and his wife Idel Corsini inaugurated a highly equipped community hospital at Malekhu, Dhading, that they had helped construct by providing financial aid. The 15-bed community hospital was constructed by Friends of Nepal, an NGO with an assistance of Rs 12 million from Amici Del Monterosa, of which Mondinelli is a member. The hospital is expected to benefit highway accident victims and around 25,000 locals. “We never thought our small help could play such vital role here,” Mondinelli said. Chairman of Friends of Nepal, Nima Nuru Sherpa honoured Silvio and Idel, on behalf of Dhading residents. Idel promised their help would continue and both said they would not have been able to do anything without Sherpa’s help. “He guided us and he was our leader,” said Mondinelli. Chairman of the hospital management committee Rajendra Kandel said, “They gave a us a new life.” The couple was was accompanied by 45 other Italian friends.
