Apex court moved on NRB governor selection issue Himalayan News Service Kathmandu, January 6: A public interest litigation (PIL) was filed inj the Supreme Court seeking its order to cancel the recent recommendation of three names for appointment as governor of the Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB). Advocate Arun Gyawali filed the PIL, alleging the recommendation as ill-intended. He also questioned the formation of the committee. The petitioner claimed that a former governor was illegally inducted into the n committee as he is still facing action by the NRB. “Since the formation of the recommendation committee itself is unlawful, accepting its recommendation is out of question,” Gyawali added. One of the persons on the recommendation panel, Former NRB governor Thapa, heads a [private firm , Alpic Everest Finance Limited which is under the NRB scanner for alleged financial irregularities and disobedience of NRB directives. “A person who is himself facing action by the NRB cannot recommend anyone as its new governor,” Gyawali claimed, urging the apex court to issue a stay order on the appointment of any one of the three persons recommended by the committee.
