Speaking with Israeli media persons upon their arrival at Ben Gurion Airport, Padma made a tearful plea, "Please save my son. Hamas, bring him home now."
At her side, Pushpa thanked Israeli people for the support while emphasising, "It's been almost two years. It's too much for us. Please, save him."
According to media reports, during their first visit to Israel, they will visit the place where he lived, see where he was kidnapped, meet his friends and receive intelligence reports.
Bipin, who hails from Bhimdatta Municipality-3, Kanchanpur, was among the dozens of foreign workers kidnapped alongside Israelis during Hamas' October 7, 2023 attack. There has been no information of the 24-year-old since the day he was kidnapped.
His friend, Bibhusha Adhikari, who returned after the deadly attack, had told The Himalayan Times earlier that two grenades were thrown into his room, and Bipin picked up the grenades and threw them back at the assailants. In doing so, he saved the lives of 17 people, including six working in the farm. "If he had hesitated back then, we would not have been alive," Adhikari had said.
Pushpa has made several social media posts thanking and requesting the Israeli and Nepali governments to ramp up efforts to rescue Bipin as soon as possible. "I have only one wish - that my brother will come back very soon, as soon as possible."
She further said, "Bipin went to Israel only to study, as part of his academic programme 'Learn and Earn', and unfortunately he is caught between two sides in a war that he has nothing to do with. We just want him. It's too much for me and my family. It's been almost two years. We can't help but think about his situation - what he's doing there, if he's getting food, if he's getting medicine."
Bipin and all of his friends who went to Israel with him stayed at Kibbutz Alumim in the Negev. During the October 7 massacre, 10 of them were murdered, six were injured and Bipin was kidnapped. Two of the injured returned to Nepal.
Earlier, Captain of Israel Special Forces Nadav Ben Yehuda expressed his uncompromising commitment towards Nepal and Bipin's safe return in interactions with Nepali media persons in Israel. The group of Nepali media persons, including THT, had reached Kibbutz Alumim to observe the place from which Bipin was taken hostage.
Yehuda lost his brother in the October 7 attack. Although he had the option to stay back at home, he joined the special forces to fight in the war.
Yehuda had scaled Mt Everest in 2012 and is also the honorary consul of Nepal in Israel and senior advisor at the Embassy of Nepal, expressed his condolences to the families of the 10 students killed in the Hamas attack on October 7, 2023. He stated, "The next time I fly to Nepal, it will be with Bipin. We are putting tremendous effort into rescuing him."
According to Vijay Rai, another Nepali who survived the October 7 attack and worked in another Alumin Kibbutz, there has been no news about Bipin since he was last seen in the released video footage in which he was dragged from the hospital by Hamas.
Rai has been in Israel for 20 years. He received Israeli citizenship in 2014. Rai and his little daughter managed to save themselves by hiding in the bunker. He stated, "I am back here only to meet you guys. I still struggle to deal with the memories from that day."
Sharing about the October 7 incident, he stated that the attack occurred at 6:30am and continued despite the Iron Dome defence. "We were saved thanks to the safety room, where we stayed for 11 hours and only got out when the Israeli Defence Forces arrived."
When asked whether he is planning to return to Nepal due to the ongoing war. He responded, "My wife is from here. For a moment I had thought of returning to Nepal. But it is difficult to support oneself on daily wages in Nepal. And it's really good here. We are getting all the facilities."
He also mentioned that he now feels very safe in Israel. "However, I still get scared whenever I hear a loud noise. The trauma of October 7 still lingers," he admitted.
