KATHMANDU: Though the regular cabinet meeting last Wednesday was adjourned, today's meet came up with the decision to hold the next cabinet meet at Gorkshep, Everest base camp to draw the attention of the world to climate change on Friday, December 4. After the meeting, the government spokespersons and Minister for Information and Communication Shankar Pokharel said that the cabinet decided to dismiss the interest of debt for the conflict victims of the Maoist insurgency and allowed the operation of seven hotels in Chitwan National Park for three years if they clear previous dues including others. Likewise, Pokharel informed that the government has appointed Babulal Sah as general manager in Nepal Drug Limited, promoted Colonel Dr Gopal Maharjan to technical Lieutenant Colonel and Lieutenant Colonel Taj Man Sing Basneyat to Brigadier General and chose Arjun Jang Shahi, AIG of Nepal Police to be sent for the UN mission in Darfur. The government decided to extend the mechanism of the Ministry of Information and Communication in the 75 districts. It also declared Kirat religious guru Falgunananda as a national hero. It has further allocated Rs. 6 lakhs for the Dharmodaya Assembly of Lumbini. It has also finalised the agenda for the upcoming Copenhegan climate change world conference.
