KATHMANDU, SEPTEMBER 26 Chinese mountaineer He Jing has become the first woman to climb the true summits of all 14 of the world's 8,000-metre peaks without supplemental oxygen, after reaching the top of Mt. Manaslu on September 23 at 3:50 p.m., expedition organizers said. Architect of high-altitude triumphs: Inside Chhang Dawa Sherpa's expeditions Andrzej Bargiel achieves first ski descent of Everest without oxygen Chhang Dawa Sherpa, Expedition Director at Seven Summit Treks, confirmed that He Jing, 37, from Xi'an, Shaanxi province, returned to Manaslu this season to achieve the mountain's true summit. She had previously reached the fore-summit in 2017. Her achievement completes a demanding multi-year quest: He scaled Makalu in 2018, Annapurna in 2019, Dhaulagiri in 2021, Everest, Lhotse, K2, and Broad Peak in 2022, and Kanchenjunga, Nanga Parbat, Gasherbrum II, Gasherbrum I, and Cho Oyu in 2023, all without oxygen. Last year she also summited Shishapangma (8,027 m). Base camp manager Tendi Sherpa said her final climb underscores an extraordinary feat of endurance and sets a new benchmark in women's high-altitude mountaineering.
