CIGA Design Unveils the Everest Summit Central Tourbillon — A Watch Containing Real Mount Everest Rock
CIGA Design’s new Everest Summit Central Tourbillon features a real piece of rock from the foothills of Mount Everest, a central tourbillon, and a Grade 5 titanium case — all priced under $3,000. A masterpiece of accessible horology inspired by the world’s highest peak.
CIGA Design has unveiled one of its boldest creations yet — the Everest Summit Central Tourbillon — a luxury timepiece that not only symbolizes human ambition but also literally contains fragments of Mount Everest.
The innovative Chinese brand, known for pushing design boundaries and honored at the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG), has once again captured global attention by merging mechanical artistry with genuine geological history.
A Design That Reaches New Heights
Built from Grade 5 titanium, the Everest Summit Central Tourbillon features a 45mm case that combines industrial minimalism with functional precision. Despite its size, the case remains slim at just 11.65mm, offering a comfortable wrist presence.
The brushed bezel, engraved branding, and sapphire exhibition case back — which bears an engraving of Sir Edmund Hillary, the first man to summit Everest — add to the piece’s storytelling power.
A black fluororubber strap ensures durability and comfort, while 50-meter water resistance keeps it practical for everyday wear.
A Dial Made from Mount Everest
What truly sets this timepiece apart is its dial — carved from real rock collected at the base of Mount Everest during a designer Jiang Xin expedition. Each stone fragment gives the dial an organic, one-of-a-kind texture that no industrial process can replicate.
The dial is enhanced with Super-LumiNova reliefs depicting the mountain itself, glowing softly in darkness. The official altitude of Everest — 8,848.86 meters — also lights up, while hands shaped like mountaineering ice axes pay tribute to the spirit of exploration.
The Central Tourbillon — A Rare Feat
At the center lies a manual central tourbillon movement (CD-05) developed by CIGA Design. Featuring four barrels and a 120-hour power reserve, this complex mechanism is rarely seen in watches below the $3,000 mark.
The symmetrical three-arm design and sapphire crystal display reveal the intricate workings of the tourbillon — serving as both the visual and symbolic heart of the watch.
“We wanted to build something that celebrates human persistence and design innovation — the Everest Summit Central Tourbillon is that story in motion,” said a CIGA Design spokesperson.
Price and Availability
The Everest Summit Central Tourbillon is now available for purchase directly from CIGA Design’s official website for $2,699 USD.
While not competing head-to-head with Swiss haute horlogerie, this model delivers exceptional originality, material depth, and narrative value at a fraction of traditional tourbillon prices.
