KATHMANDU:Chairman of the Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality Mingma Chhiring Sherpa has been honored for supporting 2023 Everest Expedition in which a replica of Guru Rinpoche was placed at the top of Everest Summit. Chengha Tshering Sherpa, Managing Director at High Mountain Himalaya Treks and Expedition, who took a replica of Guru Padhma Sambhav or Guru Rinpoche to the summit of Everest in 2023, honoured Khumbu RM Chair Sherpa amidst a function in Kathmandu. On the occasion, former board member of Nepal Tourism Board Ngawa Nima Sherpa, Khumbu RM-4 Ward Chair Laxman Adhikari, executive committee member of Trekking Agents Association of Nepal Rinji Sherpa, treasurer at Sherpa Tourism Entrepreneur Association Nepal Pasang Sherpa, Chairman of Bhojpur Sherpa Kydug Wongchu Sherpa and member Ang Kami Sherpa, Nepal Mountain Instructor Association's lead trainer Lakpa Sherpa among others were present on the occasion. Under the 'Mt Everest Expedition for World Peace and Humanity Campaign' Chengha Tshering stood atop Mt Everest at around 4:21 am on 17 may 2023, carrying a portrait of Guru Rinpoche. "This was the first ever expedition successfully organised to place the replica of Guru Rinpoche to the top of Mt Everest," Sherpa said. According to him, the main motive behind the expedition was to explore a message of world peace. "We have stayed more than six hours at the top of Everest summit placing the replica of Rinpoche there," the climber said. Till date, more than 65 supporters have been facilitated for supporting the expedition, he added.
