Coffee cultivation is catching on fast with the farmers of Parbat district after Nepali coffee found good response from national and international markets. Earlier, coffee farmers in the region were not satisfied as the coffee lacked market. However, they have started coffee cultivation since 2035 BS. Left with no choice, they simply used to root out coffee plants. But things have changed for better after the Coffee Entrepreneurs’ Association, searched the market for their produce. Last year alone, coffee worth about Rs 0.1 million was exported to Holland and Japan through the Coffee Entrepreneurs’ Association. This year, as they are planning till now, coffee worth Rs 0.26 million is expected to be exported, according to the association. The association has recently entered into a partnership with Kathmandu-based Everest Coffee Mill to help them expand market. The association has formed 32 coffee groups in 13 districts so far for a proper management of markets for coffee and 700 farmers have already started commercial coffee cultivation.
