Customer’s money stolen from Everest Bank Bhairahawa, September 2 An unidentified person stole Rs 223,000 belonging to a customer in Everest Bank’s Butwal branch office in Rupandehi today. The sum was stolen as Rohit Gautam, a staff of Durga Plastic House, was filling out a voucher to deposit the amount at around 10:00 am today. Police said the man was at large after taking the amount. “I was filling out the deposit voucher keeping the amount on the table,” said Gautam, adding, the money had suddenly disappeared from the table. DSP Dil Bahadur Malla at Area Police Office, Butwal, after viewing the CCTV footage of the branch office said a person took the amount and headed north from the bank. DSP Malla added three persons were involved in the incident. He said the thieves might have followed Gautam from the plastic factory. Police are searching for the thieves, said DSP Malla. Durga Plastic House proprietor Dinesh Gyawali said Gautam was one of his trusted employees. “It was unbelievable that the loot occurred inside the bank where security was always on standby,” he said.
