DoED paves way for grid connection of sugar mill’s cogeneration KATHMANDU:The Department of Electricity Development (DoED) has signed an agreement with the two sugar mills to provide grid connection for the electricity generated from the sugar mills. Two sugar mills — Indu Shankar Sugar Mill and Everest Sugar and Chemical Industry Ltd — will supply three megawatts each to the national grid after signing grid connection agreement with the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) — the sole power off-taker of the country. The power off-taker has already fixed the rate of Rs 4.80 and Rs 8.40 per unit in the wet season and dry season, respectively. Sugar mills had long been showing interest to supply their cogeneration to the national grid.
