The Department of Tourism has started issuing mountaineering permits for the spring mountaineering season.

According to the Director of Adventure Tourism and the Mountaineering Branch of the Department, Rakesh Gurung, a total of 33 people have already obtained permission to climb four different mountains to date. Among them, there are permits for Mt Ama Dablam, five for Himlung, one for Jugal, and 24 for Mt Annapurna.
Issuance of climbing permits for the world's tallest peak, Mount Everest, will commence tomorrow. The department has arranged for mountaineers to make online bookings for climbing, Gurung said.
