Kathmandu, September 25:
Everest Bank Ltd (EBL) has opened its 18th branch office at Chabahil, Kathmandu, in an endeavour to provide banking facilities to a large and well spread out section of the society.
Satish Chander Gupta, chairman and managing director of Punjab National Bank (PNB), India a joint venture partner of EBL, inaugurated the new branch at a function here today. On the occasion, Lekh Nath Bhusal, acting governor of Nepal Rastra Bank said, “The outstanding performance and steady gro-wth of EBL is the outcome of continuous effort in bringing new products suiting the need and requirement of its customers.” “It’s very satisfying that EBL has one of the lowest NPA levels. Per employee business profitability, and total business of the bank have shown impressive growth and further with the expertise of its joint -venture partner PNB, EBL will reach greater heights in the days to come”, Gupta said.
B K Shrestha, chairman of EBL said that the Chabahil branch would serve traders and businessmen. The bank has announced an offer of Bangkok holiday trip for a couple, which can be won by opening an account at Chabahil branch with Rs 1000. The scheme also includes free EBL Debit Card, 0.5 per cent discount on interest rate of retail lending, 50 per cent discount on processing fee levied on retail lending and 50 per cent discount on locker facility. The scheme is valid till November 30. Established in 1994, EBL started its operations with its first branch at New Baneshwar and joined hands with PNB, the largest public sector bank in India in 1997. All the major branches are interconnected through Anywhere Branch Banking Systems (ABBS), a facility which enables its customers to bank from any of these branches irrespective to their having accounts in any branch.
