During the annual general meeting held in the Capital, the EoAN unanimously elected its executive committee under the chairmanship of Parajuli while Iswari Paudel has been elected as the first vice-president, Shivraj Thapa as second-vice president and Rishi Ram Bhandari as its general secretary. Dawa Steven Sherpa and Dawa Sangbu Sherpa have been elected as secretary and treasurer respectively.
Krishna Kumar Aryal, Murari Sharma, Jiban Ghimire, Navin Trital, Chhang Dawa Sherpa, Ang Babu Sherpa and Mingma David Sherpa have been selected as the executive committee members of the association.
Addressing the general meeting, secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Dr Dipak Kalfe asked the expedition operators to promote the country's adventure tourism in the world. "MoCTCA is always ready to address issues raised by tourism entrepreneurs," he said.
Established in 2008, EoAN works to promote climbing and mountaineering while valuing the fragile mountain systems, local economy and vulnerable communities. Every year, EoAN has been assigned to fix ropes along the summit route of Mt Everest, Mt Manaslu and Mt Amadablam.
President Parajuli said that EoAN would allow for better expedition operations throughout Nepal, facilitating innovations and improvements as it provides a platform for prolific and reputed expedition operators of Nepalese tourism industry to unite in their efforts to efficiently promote and improve the quality of expeditions in the Himalayan region.
