Everest rope-fixing team reaches South Col as 454 permits issued

More than 1,000 climbing permits issued for spring climbing season Sherpa climbers missing in Everest crevasse unlikely to be found Mingma Gyalje Sherpa, Managing Director at Imagine Nepal Treks, told THT from the base camp that the team led by IFMGA guide Dawa Gyalje Sherpa opened a climbing route up to 7,900m. "On the second phase of the Everest summit expedition, our route fixing team from Imagine Nepal under the Expedition Operator Association (EOA) Nepal completed the route fixing up to Everest Camp IV at 2:50 pm NPT," Mingma G shared. According to him, the team reached the camp at 7900 meters. "After completing the 2nd phase, the team will descend to Camp II today and down to the base camp for a rest. Then, after seeing the weather forecast and planning, the team will head to fix the rope to the Everest summit," he informed. The team includes Dawa Gyalje, Pasang Temba Sherpa, Lakpa Sherpa, Phinjo Dorjee Sherpa, Ngima Dorjee Tamang, Pema Chhiri Sherpa, Dipen Gurung, Lakpa Tenjing Sherpa, Ngima Nuru Sherpa and Pasang Nima Sherpa. According to the Department of Tourism, a record 454 climbers from 61 different countries representing 41 teams have obtained climbing permits for Mt Everest till date.
