First Rai atop Everest Himalayan News Service Indra Bahadur Rai (32) has become the first summiteer from the Rai community to have scaled Mt Everest, the world’s highest peak. Rai, a member of the two-member team of an independent Adventure Awareness for Youth Everest Expedition, scaled the peak at 6.40 am on Monday, said Dawa Lama, of the Arun Treks and Expedition, organiser of the expedition. Kirat Rai Yayokkha, an organisation of the Rai community, confirmed that Indra Bahadur Rai is the first person from the Rai community to have scaled the Everest. Meanwhile, three climbers scaled Mt Manaslu today, the Tourism Ministry said.
