Morschel Jean-Marc, 61, who stayed a night at Camp III after returning from the summit late in the evening yesterday, passed away this morning, Rishi Bhandari, Managing Director at Satori Adventures, confirmed.
Jean-Marc scaled Ama Dablam along with his guide on Thursday afternoon and returned to Camp III late in the evening, he said, adding that he was supposed to be evacuated from Camp III on Friday morning.
"Once the Heli Everest chopper landed at Camp III for evacuation, the climber collapsed immediately after he left the tent," he elaborated.
This is the second fatality on the 6,812-metre mountain this season. Mingma Wangdi Sherpa had died at Camp III while on descent only a few weeks ago.
