After scaling Mt Everest and Mt Manaslu, a woman climber from Gorkha successfully climbed the world's second highest peak in Pakistan. Gurung aims to complete all 14 peaks above 8,000 m, he added. Gurung along with Yachiyo Suzuki, Ken Kobayashi, Masato Imai, Da Dendi Sherpa, Sajjan Ghale and Chhiring Sherpa reached the summit point of K2 being part of the Glacier Himalaya K2 Expedition, the organizer said. Born in 1997 in Lapsibot, Gorkha to parents who ran a Mountain Tea House in Samagaon, Gurung was drawn to the mountains from a very young age. At just 16, she began working as a porter for other trekkers. She transitioned to formal expedition with Island Peak in 2015, then continued her rigorous training throughout 2016. The success of her efforts came in 2017, when she stood atop the summit of Mt Everest. Since then, she also scaled Mt Manaslu as a climbing guide, solidifying her reputation as a skilled and courageous climber.
