Homestay service in Panchthar Panchthar, September 28 Locals at Lalikharka and Batase in Phidim Municipality of Panchthar have started homestay service. The world’s highest peaks Mount Everest and another snow capped mountain Kanchanjunga can be observed from those places. Homestay service was started to entertain tourists with cultural programmes of the Rai, Limbu, Sunar and Newar communities. Likewise, local food items such as dhindo and organic vegetables will be served to tourists. Province 1 Forest and Tourism Development Committee President Sita Thebe inaugurated the homestay set up at the initiative of Lalikharka Batase Community Organisation. Homestay operators entertained a group of tourists with organic food produced in local farms. They said tourists enjoyed viewing cultural dances such as Sakela, Dhole and Kauda, among others. A total of 70 persons can be accommodated in four houses at Batase and 10 houses at Lalikharka. The Homestay Operation Committee Chairman Tanka Rai said arrangements were being made to expand service to 20 more houses.
