Ideal date with Veep Jha The Ideal English HS School honoured women achievers at a felicitation programme on January 9. Maya Gurung, a member of the first all Nepali women Mt Everest expedition team, Gita Chudal, the first female skydiver of Nepal as well as member of the Nepali Women’s Cricket team who were victorious in the ACC, U-19 Women’s Cricket Championship were felicitated by the Vice-President Parmananda Jha. Both of them were felicitated for their role in improving the image of Nepal in the international arena. Jha said that felicitation programmes like these played a big role in the increasing moral of sports personalities to achieve greater heights in their respective fields and this in turn would improve Nepal’s image and make all of us proud to be citizens of Nepal. He also added that development of athletic personalities begins from school level, so it is necessary that sports is given equal importance as academics. The students of the school also had an interaction programme with Jha and Jivan Ram Shrestha, Member Secretary, National Sports Council. Jha shared stories of his childhood and the education he had received. The students children put forth queries regarding improvement of the education system in Nepal, load shedding, qualities required to be a good student and a successful human being, which were answered by Jha. — HNS
