Indian policewoman sets record on Mt Everest KATHMANDU:An Indian police officer successfully scaled the world’s highest peak becoming the first Indian woman climber to stand atop the roof of the world from Tibetan side, according to expedition organiser. Anita Kundu, who climbed Mt Everest from Nepal side in 2013, has scaled the mountain from Tibetan side on May 21. Anita, a sub-inspector in Haryana Police has become the first Indian woman to scale Mt Everest from the North Col route, Navin Trital, Managing Director at Expedition Himalaya, said. “She is also the first Indian woman to climb Mt Everest from both China and Nepal side.” After returning from her successful summit, Anita (29) told THT over phone that she made it to the top of Mt Everest from Tibetan side this time while her first attempt was foiled by the devastating earthquake that struck Nepal in 2015.
