Indian woman climber scripts history scaling Mt Everest twice in 5 days KATHMANDU:With scores of world climbers standing atop the world’s highest peak in the spring climbing season, an Indian woman has scripted a history on the roof of the world by scaling Mt Everest twice within five days. According to Dawa S Lama, Managing Director at Dream Himalaya Adventures said that Anshu Jamsenpa along with Nepali climber Furi Sherpa scaled the peak at 8:00 am on Sunday. Earlier, the Arunachal Pradesh mountaineer stood atop the mountain at 9:15 am on May 16. Jamsenpa set the world record becoming the first woman climber to make double ascent in five days time, Lama said, adding that she is also the first Indian woman to scale Mt Everest for the fifth time. The 32-year-old mother of two had achieved the feat of summiting Mt Everest twice within 10 days in 2011. According to Sherpa, Anshu also climbed the Mt Everest in 2013 from Nepal side. According to reports, Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama had flagged off the mountaineer's double ascent expedition from Guwahati, Assam on April 2 while Arunachal Chief Minister Pema Khandu and Arunachal Pradesh Governor PB Acharya also congratulated Jamsenpa for her achievement. “It is a historic moment for all woman climbers in the world,” Lama said, adding that the climbers were making a safe descent to the lower camps. “It’s also the Furi’s second ascent of the season,” he said. Furi has scaled the world’s highest peak for the fifth times. Earlier, Nepal’s climber Chhurim Sherpa had scaled Mt Everest twice inside of a week, reaching the roof of the world first on May 12, 2012, then again on May 19.
