Kanchenjunga, Makalu record successful summits KATHMANDU:With the opening of climbing routes to the summit point of Mt Everest, Mt Kanchenjunga, Mt Lhotse and Mt Makalu on Tuesday, the world climbers have continued their final summit pushes to the top of different mountains. According to Jiban Ghimire, Managing Director at Shangri-La Nepal Treks, Hernán Leal Barrientos of Chile along with Lhakpa Chhiring Sherpa, Cheten Dorji Sherpa and Rajan Bhote successfully scaled Mt Kanchenjunga at 5:35 am on Wednesday. Hernán was a part of the Fastco Boyden Kanchenjunga expedition organised by Shangri-La Excursion, he said. Managing Director at Peak Promotion Pvt Ltd Babu Sherpa along with a civilian team of Indians also climbed the world’s third highest mountain. “The Giripremi team led by Umesh Zirpe of Maharashtra, India stood atop the mountain,” Sherpa said. Swiss climber Sophie Lavaud celebrated her 51st Birthday on the summit of Mt Kanchenjunga while president of the Everest Summiteers Association Maya Sherpa and other climbers also scaled the mountain after they found a fair window this morning, expedition organisers said. Mingma Sherpa, Chairman at Seven Summit Treks, told that Viridiana Alvarez Chavez from Mexico, Klara Kolouchova from Czech Republic, Stefan Ivanov Stefanov from Bulgaria, Tomaz Rotar from Slovenia, Naoko Watanabe from Japan and Juan Pablo Sarjanovich from Argentina along with Chhepal Sherpa, Gyalu Sherpa, Lakpa Temba Sherpa, Ngima Thenduk Sherpa, Dawa Sangay Sherpa, Pechhumbe Sherpa, Ang Kami Sherpa and Kasang Dawa Sherpa also climbed Mt Kanchenjunga. The world’s fifth highest mountain also recorded a few successful summits this morning. Managing Director at Pioneer Adventure Lakpa Sherpa along with Ekbul Chung from Korea, Chiao Yu Chan from Taiwan, Priyanka Mangesh Mohite from India, and Magdalena Kataezyna Giorzkowaka from Poland scaled Mt Makalu this morning. “A few climbers including Phurtemba Sherpa, Pemba Sherpa and Dawa Sherpa also stood atop the 8,485-metre peak,” Company chairman Pasang Sherpa said, adding that female climber Magdalena made it to the top of the mountain without using supplemental oxygen. Seven Summit Treks reported that Brad Allen Johnson and Sarah Elizabeth from the US, John Nicholas Jacoby from Australia, Yuan-Chin Chang and Chung - Han Lu from Taiwan along with Thawa Chhiri Sherpa and Lakpa Dendi Sherpa climbed Mt Makalu. “Climbers have been descending to lower camps safely,” Sherpa said.
