Kenton Cool scales Mt Everest for 13th time breaking own British record KATHMANDU:A renowned British climber has broken his own record for summiting Mt Everest, scaling the world’s highest mountain for the 13th time this morning. According to Iswari Poudel, Managing Director at Himalayan Guides Nepal Pvt Ltd, Kenton Cool (43) from Gloucestershire, South West England, has broken his own British record for the most summits of the world's highest peak. Cool along with fellow climber Ben Fogle (42) reached the summit point at around8:00 am, he said. British TV presenter Fogle is an UN Environment Patron of the Wilderness and Mountain Hero. Olympic gold-winning cyclist Victoria Pendleton who joined Fogle and Cool for Mt Everest bid, however, abandoned her climb after reaching the higher camps last week, according to the base camp officials. Gyanendra Shrestha, a liaison officer at the Mt Everest base camp, shared that the climbers have been descending from South Col to the lower camps. “New Zealander Guy Cotter also stood atop the world’s highest peak for the fifth time this morning,” Poudel said, adding that Cotter, director at the Adventure Consultants, has already climbed the ‘Seven Summits’. According to him, climbing guides Nima Chhiri Sherpa and Pasang Bhote also made it to the top of Mt Everest for the ninth time each this morning. "Leow Kah Shin of Singapore also made his first summit on Mt Everest," he shared.
