Korean backpacker dies in Everest region

A Korean national, who was trekking in the Sagarmatha (Everest) region, has died after falling, according to the District Police Office.

The deceased, identified as Hyunchal Swang, approximately 47 years old, hailed from Korea.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Deepak Shrestha stated that Swang died after slipping and falling at Khumbu Pasang Lhamu rural municipality-4 on March 11 while returning from climbing the Island Peak. Police reported that he fell approximately two meters from the trail.
DSP Shrestha mentioned that Swang's body was airlifted to Lukla and has been sent to the TU Teaching Hospital, Kathmandu, after completing the legal procedures for a post-mortem examination.
It is reported that Swang arrived in Khumbu on March 11 through the Atex Company for mountaineering purposes.
