KATHMANDU: Arunodaya School defeated Young Heart 49-32 to enter the junior boys’ section quarter-finals of the Wilson Hoops 2009 Inter-school Basketball Tournament here on Sunday. Hosts Wilson and Kantipur won their matches in girls’ section. Wilson beat Swarnim 21-17 riding on Sumitra Khadka’s 18 points, while Kantipur thrashed Galaxy 51-9 in which Ronahi Gurung scored 21 for the winners. — HNS BHAIRAHAWA: Regional Cricket Development Committee of Region No 4 (Bhairahawa) on Sunday announced the 14-member team for the upcoming Senior National Twenty20 Cricket Tournament. Shakti Gauchan will lead the team that includes nine players from Rupandehi, two each from Kapilbastu and Kaski and one from Chitwan. No player from Palpa and Nawalparasi found the name in the squad. Bhairahawa will open their campaign with a match against Kathmandu on Wednesday. — HNS KATHMANDU: Sports for All Nepal has postponed the Dr Harka Gurung Memorial Seven-A-Side Football Tournament scheduled here for June 5-13. According to a press release issued on Sunday, the organisers said the tournament was postponed due to various technical reasons. In the memorandum, the NSC also demanded the CA chairman to advise the Constituent Assembly to implement the National Sports Policy and announce and include the national sport in the to-be-make constitution. — HNS BHAKTAPUR: Mount Everest Higher Secondary School defeated Samaj Sudhar High School 34-11 to win the Valleywide Inter-school Chew Gwavara Girls’ Kabaddi Tournament here on Sunday. Bagishwori HS School beat Ganesh School 38-20 in the third-place playoff. Mount Everest duo Sarala Budhathoki and Jharana Basnet were declared the best raider and catcher respectively. Kumari Boarding School was named the disciplined team. The top three teams received Rs 3,000, Rs 1,500 and Rs 1,000 respectively. President of Nepal Workers and Peasants Party Narayan Man Bijukchhe handed over the prizes to the winners. A total of 16 teams including 11 fromBhaktapur, four from Kathmandu and one from Lalitpur took part in the five-day event organised by Chew Gwavara Sports Club of Bhaktapur. — HNS
