Manang join hands with Mesuca Kathmandu, September 2: Manang Marsyangdi Club joined hands with Mesuca Sports Company here today. Nepal representative of the Japanese company Tashi Ghale, who is also the managing director of Singhi Plaza, and Chhimi Urken Gurung, president of the club, signed the Memorandum of Understanding. Ghale handed over the kits worth Rs 400,000 — jerseys, boots, bags, tracksuits, socks and pads — to the club players and officials. Gorkha Brewery’s Carlsberg is the main sponsor of the MMC, who won the national league two years ago. Mesuca is also the sponsors of the Nepal’s national football team and had given football kits worth Rs 570,000 to ANFA in the past. Wangel Ghale, executive director and Nepal representative of the Mesuca; Aashish Bista, chief marketing officer of Gorkha Brewery; MMC coach Chhiring Lopsang were also present on the occasion. Sunrise Boarding School is organising the Inter-school Open Badminton Tournament from September 5-8 to mark the golden jubilee of the school. More than 150 players from 19 schools are taking part in six different events. The participating schools are Sunrise, Galaxy, Excelsior, Lalitpur, Pennwood, Triyog, LRI, Puspa Sadan, Anupam, Bhanubhakta, New Prakash Buddha, Basanta Ritu, Prithvi, Ratna Rajya Laxmi, Venus, Paradise, Grand Academy, Glenbud, and Shuvatara. Fun World Nepal Recreation Centre is organising the Nine Ball Pool Tournament from September 4-9 at Fun World Pool Centre. Around 80 cueists are expected to take part in the tournament which carries total prize money of Rs 46,000, said the organisers at a press meet today. More than 100 players had taken part in the similar tournament four months ago. Deepak Thapa Magar was the winner. This time the organisers have increased the prize money by more than 50 per cent. “We have also received the registration from two female players — Sangita Thapa of Garden Snooker of Thamel and Ambika Thapa of Fun World,” said tournament convenor Krishna Basnet. “The tournament will be a competitive one as the top players like Deepak Thapa Magar and Saroj Mulmi are also in the list,” he added. The first round of the tournament will be held in race-to-five sets, while pre-quarters, quarters and semi-finals will be held in race-to-seven sets and the final will be of race-to-nine sets. The main sponsor of the event is Everest Beer and Imu Internationa is the co-sponsor. Bharat Shakya, gm at Fun World; Satendra Shrestha, operational manager at Fun World Bowling Centre; and Kailash Sapkota, founder of Imu International were also present on the occasion. Rusma Limbu scoered 18 points as Gyanodaya Bal Batika defeated Ideal Model School 40-33 in the final of the third Milan Inter-school Girls’ Basketball Tournament organised by Milan Vidya Mandir to mark the 78th birthday of Queen Mother Ratna and 341st Children’s Day. Maya Syangtan of Ideal Model also scored 18 points. Gyanodaya won the title for the third straight year, which means they will take the running shield. In all, 26 schools of the valley took part in the tournament. Chuman Singh Basnet, secretary at the Education and Sports Ministry, gave away prizes to the winners.
