Maoists trade union wing refutes news
Kathmandu, August 1 :
All Nepal Hotel and Restaurant Workers’ Union (ANHRWU) has refuted the news about two Indian nationals being forced to quit their jobs from Casino Royale and Casino Everest, as baseless and false.
Issuing a press release today, ANHRWU has said that the union has no intention of threatening and forcing anybody to resign from his or her job. “We are also against closing down any industry and enterprise by using threat,” reads the release.
On Monday, Nepal Recreation Centre Pvt Ltd (NRC), which runs the two casinos in Kathmandu, issued a press release stating that two of its employees have been threatened with their lives, unless they immediately resign from their services. NRC had said that Rajesh Katariya, operations manager at Casino Royale and Kishor Sagar, food & beverage controller at Casino Everest, are being forced to quit their jobs.
“We have never threatened and asked anyone to resign,” Janak Singh Thagunna, president of ANHRWU, Casino Everest Unit, said. He said that the trade union is in favour of creating a conducive working environment for all employees, protecting their rights, irrespective of their nationalities.
“ANHRWU has been demanding equal treatment to all employees, regardless of their country of origin. We have put forth this point in our 14-point demand recently submitted to the management,” Thagunna said.
