Melting pot of culture KATHMANDU: The Everest Nepal Cultural Group organised the Third International Folk Festival 2006 at the Royal Nepal Academy on March 17. Various countries including India, Italy, Singapore, Latvia, Taipei China, Romania, Nepal are taking part in the programme. The main aim behind such a programme is to promote and preserve the cultures of each country. The cultural show kicked off with a traditional Nepali dance followed by the traditional dance of Latvia. The crowd sat admiring the beauty of the dance and there was a huge round of applause and hooting. Though a show is not considered as successful without much clapping and hooting but it gets a bit too much if it hinders the beauty of the programme. Like any other programme there were loads of applause and too much of hooting which did spoil the mood of the people who had come to spend a quiet afternoon enjoying a cultural show with friends and families. Nevertheless those ever smiling dancers who must have worked really hard to put up such a great performance maintained the charm of the show. It was a pleasure to watch them glide on the stage. The show will continue till March 26. So all those who missed it today can catch up in the days to come.
