MJF-B strike cripples Siraha
The cadres of the Madhesi Janaadhikar Forum-Biswas faction this afternoon vandalised five vehicles in the district headquarters for defying the bandh called by the party.
They vandalised a school van belonging to the Mount Everest Secondary Boarding School, which was returning from Hanumannagar, at the Jayshanker Trade Centre Petrol Pump Chowk in Siraha-7. They also vandalised three tempos at the same place.
The cadres also damaged a pick-up van of the Siraha district hospital for allegedly ferrying people during the bandh. The hospital has incurred a loss of hundreds of thousands of rupees, said head of the Siraha district health office Dr Rajkumar Chaudhary. MJF-Biswas had organised a one-day bandh to press for fulfilling its nine-point charter of demands.
Meanwhile, the United National Tharu Front Nepal and Limbuwan Federal Autonomous Region, keeping in view the woes to the general public and Bijaya Dashami and Muslim’s festival Ramajan, withdrew the indefinite general strike today. Trading houses, factories, educational institutes and transport have resumed operation after the announcement. However, the bandh was effective until the evening, police said.
The one-day bandh called by MJF-Biswas crippled life in Bara. All the educational activities in Kalaiya were disrupted and few vehicles plied.
