The ever-crowded Basantapur, the favourite hub of youths was even more crowded on October 29. People had gathered there to enjoy the Everest Concert organised by US-based Love Hope Strength Foundation to create awareness about cancer. After a very successful concert at the foothills of Mount Everest they are back in the city to spread the message. “All people should have access to medicine and treatment for cancer. This is our first venture in Nepal and we are going to help Bhaktapur Cancer Centre with equipments needed for cancer treatment,” said James Chippendale, Co-founder of the organisation and a cancer survivor. The concert had international artistes like Mike Peters, Slim Jim Phantom, Cy Curnin, Jamie West, Glen Tillbrook and Nick Harper. “ We hope this will give courage and hope to all who are affected by this disease in some way,” Chippendale added. Along with the international artistes our very own Nepali artistes like Yogeshwor Amatya, Nima Rumba, Jems Pradhan, Dipesh Kishor Bhattarai, Nheyu Bajracharya, Sujil Karmacharya, Gopal Rasauli and Sabin Rai performed at the concert. Resham Phiriri sung by international artistes was successful to make the crowd sing along. It was heart warming to see the crowd consisting people of every walk enthusiastic and responsive to the performances.
