Nepal Army Captain being rescued from Everest South Summit

A military officer who fell ill above 8,000m on Mt Everest while descending from the summit point is being rescued by a group of Sherpa climbers, sources at the base camp said.

KATHMANDU:A military officer who fell ill above 8,000m on Mt Everest while descending from the summit point is being rescued by a group of Sherpa climbers, sources at the base camp said. Nepal Army Captain Dipendra Singh Khatri couldn't move below the south summit after he returned from the roof of the world, sources said. Khatri, being a part of the Mountain Clean-up Campaign expedition led by Lt Colonel Kishor Adhikari, scaled Everest at 10:05 am on Monday. Xuebin Chen from China died near Everest south summit: Sources Indian climber Piyali Basak being rescued to Camp III Other members of the team have already descended to the lower camps. A team of Sherpa climbers has already reached there and Khatri is being rescued to the lower camps, sources added. Details to follow.
