Nepali tea show in Germany
An exhibition of Nepali tea was organised in Bremen of Germany from May 4 to 5 with the objective of promoting and publicising Nepali tea in the European market.
Altogether nine Nepali tea industries took part in the exhibition organised at the special initiative of Ortwin Rave, director cum general manager of Sinass-tea, a German organisation.
Some 300 European tea buyers observed the Nepali tea exhibition and appreciated the quality and standard of Nepali tea, according to a participant.
Binod Basnet, shareholder of Shakira Tea Industry in Jhapa district, says that the exhibition has given Nepali tea a "good name" in the European market.
Basnet is also confident that European tea drinkers who were hitherto familiar to tea from Darjeeling of India, China and Sri Lanka only will now be attracted towards Nepali tea.
The exhibition is said to have boosted Nepali tea industrialists and producers and is expected to increase the demand of Nepali tea in Europe.
Industries taking part in the tea exhibition were Gurase Tea Industry, Nepal Tea and Coffee Centre Ltd., Shakira Tea Industry, Nepal Small Tea Producers Ltd, The Everest Tea Industry, Himalayan Shangri-la Tea Industry, Kanchanjungha Tea Industry, Sri Antu Tea Industry and Antu Valley Tea Industry.
