KATHMANDU, DECEMBER 30 Purnima Shrestha, a celebrated photojournalist and Everest summiteer, has been featured in CNN's "Extreme Athletes Who Pushed Limits in 2024" list. Reacting to the recognition, Purnima expressed her pride on social media, stating, "This year, 2024, is historic for me. I climbed Mt. Everest three times in a single season, becoming the first woman in the world to achieve this milestone." She also conveyed gratitude to her family, friends, and supporters, hoping that 2025 would bring even greater achievements and adventures. Purnima set a record by summiting the world's highest peak three times within two weeks-on May 12, 19, and 25-during the spring climbing season. Furthermore, she made history as the first Nepali woman to scale Dhaulagiri, the seventh-highest mountain in the world.
