Newly appointed Minister for Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation Jeevan Ram Shrestha pledged his full support to resolve different challenges in the mountaineering sector during a meeting with a delegation of Everest Summiteers Association led by President Maya Sherpa, at his office on Sunday.

'Effective policies for social justice and equality'
During the meeting, first vice president Diwas Pokhrel shared serious concerns to tourism minister Shrestha about the consequences of climate change on mountains including Mt Everest.
Similarly, ESA general secretary Shiva Bahadur Sapkota apprised the minister about the association's past activities. He also drew the minister's attention to concerns such as the issuance of identitty cards to mountaineers by the country, insurance, and boosting the number of mountaineer contact officers.
During the conference, the association head, Maya Sherpa, stated that it would greatly aid in the promotion and growth of mountaineering tourism in the country if the country provided various benefits to mountaineers.
Minister Shrestha stated that he will do everything possible to fix different challenges in the climbing industry. "Providing identification cards to mountaineers will send a favourable message to the tourism industry," Shrestha added.
Sonam Sherpa, Yangdi Sherpa, Jenjen Lama, and Mingma Dendi Sherpa from the ESA working committee were also present on the occasion.
