The Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA) has embarked on a mission to carry the Peace Torch from the sacred birthplace of Buddha in Lumbini to the majestic heights of Kala Patthar. The Peace Torch, initially taken from Lumbini, will journey to Kathmandu, where it will illuminate iconic sites such as Swyambhu and Bauddha. The next destination on its itinerary is Kala Patthar, a historic location where a cabinet meeting took place in 2009. On November 11, the torch will light up Kala Patthar, drawing global attention to the dire consequences of climate change in the Himalayan region. This initiative coincides with the 50th annual event organized by the Nepal Mountaineering Association, showcasing their commitment to raising awareness about the profound impact of climate change on the Himalayas and advocating for global peace. The program will also include the waving of the national flag to symbolize unity and solidarity in the face of climate challenges.
