A Norwegian woman, who wants to climb all 14 peaks above 8,000m in a shorter time, today successfully scaled Mt Makalu setting a record with two fellow climbers for fastest ascent of six mountains above 8,000m. Pemba Sherpa, managing director at 8K Expedition, shared that Kristin, a 36 year old professional athlete from Norway, along with two fellow Sherpa climbers stood atop Mt Makalu at 9:50 am. According to Sherpa, Kristin was accompanied by Pasdawa and Dawa Ongju to the summit point of Mt Makalu. Three climbers had scaled Mt Everest and Mt Lhotse on Monday completing five mountains above 8,000m in just 24 days, he added. Kristin scaled Mt Kanchenjunga, world's third highest peak, on May 14. She also climbed Mt Dhaulagiri, the world's seventh highest peak, on May 8. On April 28, Kristin scaled Mt Annapurna I, the tenth highest peak in the world, beginning her mission to climb all 14 peaks above 8,000m in just 6 months. "Kristin along with Pasdawa and Dawa Ongju has set the record of fastest climber to scale six mountains in just 29 days," Sherpa said. Her team has also broken one of the records of fastest climb by Nirmal Purja (Nims Dai) who climbed five peaks above 8000m in 29 days, Sherpa claimed. "They made it to six peaks in 29 days," Sherpa added. In May 2021, Kristin set a world record becoming the fastest woman to climb Mt Everest and Mt Lhotse in less than twelve hours. This season, Kristin broke her own record making it to the summit of Everest and Lhotse in just nine hours, Sherpa added. Kristin would also be attempting Mt Makalu on Monday aiming to complete Everest, Lhotse and Makalu in less than 48 hours, Sherpa shared. "Kristin's expeditions and success in previous summit attempts has inspired her to embark upon her latest challenge, 'Bremont 14 Peaks', a monumental effort to become the first woman in history and the second person ever to climb all 14 peaks above 8,000m in less than 6 months," reports said.
