NTA to test telecom service quality across country

Nepal Telecommunication Authority (NTA) is preparing to test the quality of telecommunication service across the country.

KATHMANDU, JANUARY 29 Nepal Telecommunication Authority (NTA) is preparing to test the quality of telecommunication service across the country. The authority has already started the preparations for the same, informed Min Prasad Aryal, spokesperson for NTA. "For the quality inspection of voice, data and internet services across the country, the authority has short-listed six companies," he said, adding that altogether 12 companies had applied when a tender was issued. As per the NTA, the shortlisted companies are Mahakali Mechi Technology and Suppliers, Professional Business Network, a consortium of Smart Management and Research and Jay Bageshwori Construction and Suppliers, and consortium of E-coil Pvt ltd and Jaljala Builders and Infrastructure Pvt ltd. Likewise, other shortlisted companies are Inclusive Everest Microtech and Inn Telco Solutions. According to Aryal, the NTA has sought proposals of financial and technical plans of the companies in the first phase. After evaluating the proposals, one company will be finalised for the quality inspection of the voice, mobile data, telephone and internet services across the country. The authority has also stated that it will take further action in the ICT sector of the country based on the report submitted by the selected company. Based on the same report, the authority will also take action against the service providers that are providing low quality services. The authority expects this project to help better regulate the sector and benefit the consumers with quality service. For the quality inspection project NTA has allocated a total budget of Rs six million.
