LAMJUNG: Property worth thousands of rupees was robbed of a tourists in the Annapurna Trekking Route on Saturday. US nationals Maga Lena Dekota, Ornak Iwisje and Arik Michael Storn lost Rs 58,000, 2,000 Thai Bhatt, 2,000 Indonesian Rupiah and a digital camera from North Face Hotel in Tagrihng VDC. Similarly, Tanja Toyalof Sen and Michael Bhana Ragst of the Netherlands lost Rs 35,000, 150 Euros and a digital camera from Everest Hotel at Bhulbhule VDC-2. DSP Prakash Adhikari informed that the police have deployed a probe team to the sites. — HNS Alternative schooling KATHMANDU: Janakalyan Pratisthan, a social organisation that imparts free education across the country, is all set for its convention. According to its general secretary Birendra Budathoki , the convention will be heldn on 27th and 28th of October in Kathmandu. He also said that they would set up informal primary schools --Yakal Bidhyalaya -- in every district of the country. The organisation claims to have a total of 1,005 such schools in 33 districts. He said, "The school of that kind was first established in 1996 to impart informal education to the deprived ones." He also informed that they had their own curriculum. — HNS ACHHAM: A person died after consuming hooch here in Devisthan VDC of Achham dsitrict on Saturday. Puran Pariyar, 27, a resident of Devisthan-1 died due to excessive consumption of the liquor, Achham District Police Office said. According to locals, his body was found lying at Gijarigada VDC. The autopsy report also confirmed that the death was caused due to consumption of alcohol. — HNS DADELDHURA: The UCPN-Maoist's Young Communist League (YCL) cadres have been forcibly collecting money from vehicles plying on the Dadeldhura-Dhangadhi Bhimdutta Highway. Transportation entrepreneurs said that they were made cough up the sum for over a month now. A driver said the YCL cadres had been collecting money in the range of Rs 1,000 to 4,000 from every vehicle. Transport workers complain that YCL cadres are asking for money and VAT bills from vehicles carrying load more than their capacity. — RSS
