Over 800 foreign climbers granted permits for Nepal's autumn season

A total of 802 climbers from 72 countries have received permits to scale various peaks across Nepal during the autumn 2025 climbing season, according to the Department of Tourism (DoT).

Among the permitted peaks, Mt Manaslu (8,163m) continues to be the most sought-after, attracting 374 climbers across 31 teams, contributing more than Rs 157.6 million in royalties - over 80 percent of the total collection. Other popular peaks include Himlung Himal (98 climbers), Ama Dablam (57 climbers), and Dhaulagiri I (36 climbers). Nepal's flagship Mt Everest saw only four climbers from two teams, generating USD 30,000 in royalties this season. In terms of nationality, the highest number of climbers came from China (100 climbers), the United Kingdom (51), France (62), Germany (46), and the United States (54). Nepal contributed 31 climbers, while smaller teams arrived from countries such as Argentina, Japan, Austria, and Italy.
