KATHMANDU: Pemba Sherpa and his team is all set to take Nepal Judo Association’s flag and photo of the 12th South Asian Games gold medallist judoka Phupu Lhamu Khatri to the top of the world. A nine-time summiteer Sherpa, who is also the cousin brother of Phupu Lhamu Khatri, is the member in the Swiss team that is scheduled to leave for Mt Everest on Monday. President Deepak Harsha Bajracharya and other NJA officials handed over the flag and Khatri’s photo to Sherpa amidst a programme. “We are taking the NJA flag and Khatri’s photo to Mt Everest to honour their achievements in the South Asian Games,” said Sherpa. Khatri became the first Nepali woman judo player to win gold medal in the regional games in Shillong, India last month. Her father, Dorjee Khatri, also a nine-time Mt Everest summiteer, was killed in avalanche two years ago. The team will start the expedition on Monday.
