Rai wins Everest Express Golf Cup
Major Narendra P Rai won the Everest Express Cup golf tournament at the Royal Nepal Golf Club today.
Rai claimed the two-day championship on a count back basis after tying with Robin Rana at 36 points. The winner took home a Running Trophy, two-night stay package at Fishtail Lodge in Pokhara along with air ticket for a couple to Pokhara.
Puspa Rai won the ladies section title with 27 points, one more than runner up Pawitra Yakthumba. Sharsing Limbu claimed the super senior section award while Gen Pyar Jung Thapa bagged the senior section title on count back basis after he was tied at 34 points with Major Mani Prasad Rai.
Other winners included Shreejay Achary (best gross and most birdies), Bejoy Moktan (guest winner), UK Dayananda (shortest drive at Hole No 10), Neeraj SJB Rana (longest drive at Hole No 13), Sumitra Dayananda (ladies’ longest drive at Hole No 4), Ranjee Baral (closest to the Everest Express logo at Hole No 18), Major Biswanath Rai (closest to the centre line at Hole No 10), Lt Gen Chitra Bahadur Gurung (closest to pin No 14), Shastika Shrestha (Hole-in-one gift), Suhrid Ghimire (elegant golfer), and Madhukar Lal Sinnaya (enthusiastic golfer).
Executive Chairman of Everest Express R R Pandey gave away the prizes to the winners. RNGC president Madhukar Yakthumba and RNGC captain Rabindra Man Shrestha were also present on the occasion.
