Rawal to face Chinese Shuyin in first round RIO DE JANERIO:Nepali taekwondo player Nisha Rawal was drawn against Chinese Zheng Shuyin in the above-67kg first round match of the Rio Olympic Games here today. Rawal will play against Shuyin in the round of 16 bout at the Carioca Arena 3 on August 20. The 21-year-old Rawal is in here with the aim of winning at least one bout despite having inadequate preparation. “I am not satisfied with the preparation,” said Rawal, who was sent to South Korea for a month-long training. “It would have been better if I had got the chance to train with one coach from the beginning. I went to Korea for a month but could not train there properly,” she said. “The training was halted for several days because of international tournament and I had nothing to do in Korea,” she added. Despite all those problems, Rawal has set a target of winning at least one bout. “I want to win a least a bout in Olympics and I am hoping for that,” said Rawal. “I have trained under coach Sangina Baidya for the last one month and she has shared her experience of 2004 Athens Olympic Games, which I believe will help me a lot,” said Rawal. Baidya is the first Nepali player to qualify for the Olympic Games. Rawal, who started playing taekwondo since she was at school 11 years ago, won the gold medal in her first international appearance in the Mt Everest Taekwondo Championship in 2014. She also took part in the 2014 Asian Games in Incheon and Universiade Games in Korea the next year. She won silver medal in Zenju Open in Korean in 2015 and bagged gold in Hong Kong Asia Cities Open earlier this year. She also represented the country in the Asian Qualifiers for the Olympic Games earlier this year in Manila.
