Rope-fixing 8K team opens route upto South Col on Mt Everest

The responsibility for clearing the path and installing ropes for the Everest and Lhotse expeditions for Spring 2025 was handed over to a team of eight Sherpa guides, led by Aspirant Guide Ashok Lama including team members Karma Gyaljen Sherpa, Pem Nurbu Sherpa, Ming Dawa Sherpa, Tashi Sherpa, Pasa Rinjee Sherpa, Pashtanjen Sherpa, and Tashi Nurbu Sherpa. "The team will descend to Camp II and down to the base camp for a rest. Then, after seeing the weather forecast and planning, the team will head to fix the rope to the Everest summit," he informed. According to Sherpa, the team has a plan to open a climbing route to the summit point by the second week of May if weather allows. Earlier, the icefall doctors from Sagarmatha Pollution Control Committee opened a climbing route from the Base Camp to Camp II by placing ropes and ladders on the treacherous section of the Khumbu icefall.
