Bahrain royal team arrives for Everest expedition
The aircraft of the Bahrain Defence Force, in which the royal expedition team had boarded, arrived at the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) at 6:30 pm on Monday, informed Thaneshwar Guragain, General Manager of the Seven Summits Trek, which is organising the royal expedition.
According to Guragain, the team will proceed to Lukla in late March and will begin the final expedition from the second week of May.
Talking to The Himalayan Times, Guragai shared that the team will adhere to Covid-19 safety protocol and will quarantine at the Marriot Hotel for one week following which a PCR test of the team members will be carried out.
Thirteen of the 16 members of the group are serving in the Bahrain Defence Force while the others are British nationals.
It has been learnt that the team will stay in Nepal for a duration of 80 days, the Embassy of Nepal in Bahrain issued a press release to inform the same.
Similarly, the team has also brought 2,000 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine against Covid-19 to inoculate the residents of Chumanubri Rural Municipality-1 in Gorkha district.
Last year, the team had successfully summitted the Lobuche and Manaslu peaks in Nepal.
