The Seventh Regional Everest Regional Model United Nations Conference has successfully concluded in Kathmandu on Friday.
The Five Days conference organized by the U.S. Embassy in collaboration with the "Youth Thinkers Society" was held in Kathmandu from June 24-28, at Malla Hotel.
The conference brought together 200 delegates from 10 countries to simulate five UN committees: the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), UN Women, the UN Environment Program (UNEP), the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), and the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
This year, a variety of regional policy issues including climate change, artificial intelligence, women's participation in peace and security, and combating digital misinformation, were discussed. The conference provided a platform to learn about and discuss emerging global agendas, share experiences and expertise, and develop innovative policy recommendations to address these issues through team-building efforts and self-leadership initiatives.
At the closing ceremony, Acting Deputy Chief of Mission Garrett Wilkerson thanked all the participants, including the delegates, for their meaningful and active contributions throughout the conference and for making it a grand success. He highlighted how programs like EIMUN promote multilateralism and provide a useful platform to practice negotiation and public speaking skills.
