EVEREST BASE CAMP, MAY 12 At least six climbers from the Himalayan Guides/Madison Mountaineering have successfully scaled Mt Nuptse in the Everest region last evening, according to expedition organisers. "Six climbers successfully scaled Mt Nuptse at 6:45 pm on Saturday becoming the season's first team to climb the 7,855-metre mountain," Iswari Paudel, Managing Director at Himalayan Guides Pvt. Ltd said. Team leader Casey Lloyd Diener from USA and Claudioc Javier Beiza from Argentina along with Mingmar Sherpa, Kamdorji Sherpa, Dawa Tenjin Sherpa and Chheten Dorje Sherpa made it to the summit point opening the climbing route, Paudel said. Nuptse is considered one of the toughest mountains for climbing in the Everest region. According to Paudel, Dawa Tenjin and Chheten Dorje led the rope fixing task making the double ascent of the mountain this season. At least 34 climbers representing three different teams have obtained climbing permits for Mt Nuptse this spring season.
